I know E3 is still active, but I just want to fit a classic gaming blog. I recently downloaded Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection PSN game. I've never played the original arcade version of SF 2, but I have played the Super Nintendo port, Genesis port, and Super Street Fighter II Turbo Remix on PSN. So I do know what I'm talking about.
In terms of variety, Street Fighter II is much better. It's pretty obvious, since all the fighters fight differently (besides Ryu and Ken) and more stages as well. Mortal Kombat has fewer stages, and all the characters have the same basic punches and kicks. Though each character has different special attacks. The soundtrack is superior in Street Fighter, but you can't beat the sound effects of Mortal Kombat. "Finish Him" (announcer) and "Get over Here"(Scorpion) are all classic.
In The Game Change gaming philosophy (coming soon), I believe that determining the better game comes down to the controls and fun factor. The controls are dead even perfect for both games. Yet I think MK is easier controlled when coming down to the special moves; including the fatalities. Speaking of which, the well known fatalities allows this classic to be even more fun. Street Fighter II is a more in depth game, but Mortal Kombat I think is more fun and a better experience overall. With both fighters being huge classics, Mortal Kombat is the better punch.
I could've gone on more, but I didn't so yeah. Keep playing games and stay tuned for my E3 thoughts coming soon.
