A 10\10 score for a game from a website or magazine means that the particular game being reviewed is one of the finest games of all time. That should be a rare event right? Well apparently not to reviewers.
I opened up my Game Informer magazine that just got delivered and I see another ten! This time it was Bioshock Infinite. Now Bioshock is already looking like one of the best franchises in gaming history even though it was been around for very long. Game Informer is pretty darn nice because they have given out 24 tens while in publication. 24! That is too much. These reviewers must have grown up like the Angry Video Game Nerd playing horrible games. I mean Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty got the perfect score. It's a great game, but no 10. Ocarina of Time, Mario Galaxy, Super Mario Bros, Street Fighter 2, and those kind of games deserve tens, not Halo 2 and Grand Theft Auto IV. Please don't say Halo 2 innovated the first person shooter genre. Online multiplayer was cool, but the actual gameplay wasn't innovative. GTA IV a ten? That's cute.
IGN made me want to cry. Since 1996, IGN has awarded 26 perfect scores. C'mon man! But many of these tens are just ridiculous. You want to get shocked, well Mario Golf on Game Boy Color was awarded a ten! Yes, critics said that it was better than the N64 version, but all the sudden BAM! IGN awards this golf game a 10\10. Even Joust was given a ten. No not the arcade version, but the Atari Lynx version. I am literally confused. What were they thinking!?
Overall, I don't understand this catastrophe. Here's a ten, and here's another ten. Enough with the tens, or maybe I'm somehow missing out. Nah, reviewers just like to jump to conclusions.
